ELEMENTARY YOUTH SPORTS

The YMCA Youth Basketball League is a 7-week co-ed league designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball while focusing on fun and skill development. Volunteer coaches will guide players through practices that emphasize dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense. Each team will practice once per week on Wednesday or Thursday evenings, with 45-minute sessions scheduled between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Games will take place on Saturdays at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, or 11:00 AM, and the season concludes with a tournament on the final day.

While games will feature a clock and scoreboard, the league’s emphasis is on learning and enjoyment rather than winning or losing, making it a great opportunity for players to grow their skills in a supportive environment.

Team assignments and game schedules will be finalized after registration ends and shared electronically via Playerspace. For cancellations before registration closes, the YMCA offers a full credit or refund. After registration ends but before the season begins, a 75% credit or refund will be provided. Once the season starts, no refunds will be issued, and weather-related cancellations are also non-refundable.

The YMCA Indoor Soccer League is a fun and fast-paced introduction to soccer fundamentals for children ages 3-10. Designed to enhance ball control and footwork, indoor soccer minimizes interruptions and keeps the action moving. Children may register for a higher age division but cannot play in a lower one. Be sure to register for the division that matches your child’s age at the start of the season.

Players ages 7-10 will have one 45-minute practice per week, scheduled on either Wednesday or Thursday between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM. Games will take place on Saturday mornings or afternoons, depending on the age group, in the YMCA gyms. Each game will include a 15-minute practice followed by gameplay. The league will pause during Spring Break (April 7-12).

For cancellations before registration closes, you may receive a full credit or refund. After registration ends but before the season begins, a 25% credit or refund will be issued. Please note that no refunds are given once the season starts or for weather-related cancellations.

Let’s run! This program is designed to help participants improve endurance and stamina through a combination of sprints, intervals, and distance running. With engaging practices and Saturday meets, participants will be introduced to the basic principles of cross-country running. The program also emphasizes healthy living, providing families with tools to make nutritious food choices while fostering a love for running.

Practices are held on Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Harrison Elementary fitness track and meets take place on Saturday mornings at the Warsaw Community High School XC Course (time TBD).

For cancellations before the end of registration, the YMCA offers a full credit or refund. After registration ends but before the program starts, a 25% credit or refund will be issued. Once the program begins, no refunds will be given. Additionally, no refunds will be provided for weather-related cancellations.

Introduce your child to the excitement of Track & Field! This program offers engaging practices and meets that teach participants the fundamentals of the sport. Running events vary by age and include distances from 25m to 800m, while field events feature the softball throw, plastic javelin throw, high jump, and long jump. Each meet allows participants to compete in two running events and two field events, offering a well-rounded experience.

Practices are held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with meets on Saturday mornings from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The season concludes with a final meet on Wednesday, June 25, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. All practices and meets take place at the Grace College track facility.

For cancellations before registration closes, the YMCA provides a full credit or refund. After registration ends but before the program begins, a 25% credit or refund will be issued. Once the program starts, no refunds are given, and weather-related cancellations are also non-refundable.
